The world's largest producer can attribute its love of wines to the Romans. Even now, centuries later, wine continues to play a significant part in modern Italian culture, and Italy itself remains an exciting country for wine lovers. With its lofty sedimentary, calcareous and volcanic soils, noble autochthonous grapes bring the individual terroirs of the Italian landscape to life.

Whilst Rioja is still king, Spain has, in recent years, done an exemplary job of shedding its reputation for being the source of inexpensive reds. The country now produces an incredibly diverse selection of exciting wines that encompass myriad different styles.

Arguably the most successful of the New World producers, Australia was responsible, in no small way for introducing an entirely new generation to wine during the 1980’s and 1990’s. Alongside the established and most famously historic producers, a new wave of younger winemakers are now taking Australian wine in to a whole new dimension.

Traditionally the New Zealand wine industry has been synonymous with crisp, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc but in reality, it's more than just a one trick pony. A generation of skilled winemakers are crafting world class wines across the country, be it exceptional Pinot Noir from Central Otago, Syrah from Hawke's Bay, or Chardonnay from near Auckland.
