Chapter I: Alexandra Pascal
For Alexandra Pascal, taking over the family domaine was never about changing its identity, but understanding what was worth protecting. As the fourth generation of Domaine Joseph Pascal, she carries forward a distinctly Puligny philosophy: quiet precision, restraint and an unwavering belief that the vineyard should speak louder than the winemaker. Alongside her husband Yann, Alexandra favours sustainable farming, indigenous yeasts and measured oak, crafting wines defined by freshness, minerality and a clear sense of place.
Her connection to Puligny-Montrachet runs deeper still as the village’s mayor — making her not simply a custodian of her family’s vineyards, but of the community and heritage surrounding them. For Alexandra, the next chapter of Burgundy begins by knowing what should never be lost.
Chapter II
Established in 1975, Domaine Joseph Pascal grew from a much longer family winegrowing tradition in Puligny-Montrachet. A defining force behind the modern estate, Joseph Pascal was built upon vineyards passed down through the family and developed the domaine under his own name. His son Philippe Pascal subsequently continued the family enterprise before the responsibility passed to Philippe’s daughter Alexandra Pascal, who today carries the domaine forward alongside her husband, Yann. Across this succession, the Pascal story has remained firmly anchored in Puligny — a family domaine shaped not simply by ownership of its vineyards, but by generations living and working within the same village.
Chapter III
Over the decades, the domaine grew to around 15 hectares, with vineyards extending across Puligny-Montrachet and neighbouring Côte de Beaune appellations. Its historical identity was grounded in classical Burgundian winemaking: careful vineyard work and traditional cellar practices intended to express appellation and terroir rather than impose an obvious house style. Chardonnay naturally became central to its identity, particularly through its Puligny holdings, producing wines associated with minerality, structure and the ability to develop with age. Alexandra therefore inherited an understated, terroir-led foundation — one that called less for reinvention than for thoughtful refinement.

In Her Words
“A climat is a place where people live, where culture thrives, and where people pass through. You never truly own it; you are merely its guardian… What I like is when the wine speaks for itself. Without needing to dress it up. Bringing out nuances—avoiding a uniform smoothness—means keeping the legacy of the climats alive.” — Alexandra Pascal
